"Real power is found in knowing that your life is not about you".

I read the above statement in a Lutheran Daily Devotional book on April 30th. It says so much and can be applied to every aspect of our lives. I'll write a few exerpts from this short devotional in the next paragraph:

Many things in our lives represent power and, if allowed, we give them power. Some people are allowed to be powerful. Machines can be powerful, some storms and weapons. But don't forget about the "real" power which come from God/Creator, the Universe and Angels. This power is perfected in mankind through selflessness and compassion.

This has an important message for Reiki:

One form of "power" that God/Creator gives us is the "Power of Choice". A Reiki Giver is "NOT" powerful. They are a conduit of the healing energy. Some people have gifts of healing energies of their own and years of experience to where the energy you receive works for you. But utimately their gifts and, the energy they transmit to you, come from God/Creator/Universe. That is the Source of Power and it's not any particular person. Whether or not your session of healing is successful or not depends on your willingness and readiness to heal. God can provide you with opportunities for healing and growth but you have "power" via free will of choice to accept it or not.
